Bio

I’m 24 and live in beautiful, free north Idaho. Esto Perpetua! I’ve been blogging here at PGB since Spring 2007, though I only keep public about six months’ worth of the most recent posts. (If you’re looking for something you’ve seen in the past, feel free to shoot me an email.)

I’m a small-L libertarian. I believe in extremely limited government and extensive personal responsibility.

Of the issues I’m passionate about, gun rights are (obviously) at the top of the list. I am a proud gun owner and avid shooter. My favorite firearms are my Rock River Arms AR-15, Springfield Armory 1911, and Sig P238.

My other interests are varied and a bit eclectic. I don’t read as much as I should, but I’m trying to return to the avid reading habits of my childhood. (I’m a nook owner, so feel free to recommend/lend your ebooks!) I spend a considerable amount of time each day mucking about on the internet, doing this and that – hence why I figured I might as well do something productive, and blog. I also enjoy cooking and fits of craftiness, which usually include yarn (knit and crochet). I start many more projects than I finish, but I forgive myself for this because Leonardo da Vinci was known to do the same thing.

On January 10, 2009, I gave birth to my first child – a daughter we named Abigail Wyoming. She’s named in honor of two revolutionary women: Abigail Adams, and Wyoming Knott from Robert Heinlein’s The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I am proud to say she was born free in a planned homebirth, attended by midwives. I am so glad we chose midwifery care and homebirth, and absolutely believe both Abigail and myself benefitted tremendously from a drug and intervention free birth in a place I was comfortable. Needless to say, I’m a natural birth advocate!

After stints driving a Zamboni and selling Vespa-style scooters, I’m now exercising real feminism by choosing to stay home with my daughter, while continuing to work toward a bachelor’s degree in… something. I’m on the, uh, eight-year plan.

I’ve been married to my husband, Mike – known around here (lovingly) as The Inconvenience – since summer of 2007. He’s my best friend, debate partner, and he even outshoots me, sometimes. He never beats me at Trivial Pursuit, though.
