I can explain.
Welcome to Hotel Intense Debate. Intense Debate is home to many websites, which are like big conventions or conferences. Some of them are rowdy and there are fights that spill over into other unaffiliated conferences. Pardon our brawl.
For what its worth, my name is Cognitive Dissident. I share appreciation with you on your favorite topics:
Guns – I don't own any, but I support our 2nd Amendment and appreciate that both crime would be worse if not for it… and I also note the old notion that the Japanese would have more aggressively invaded the West Coast in WWII if not for their perception that the American People are generally well armed.
Politics – I'm a liberal. And up until recently my home was Breitbart. Which means I was a troll. And, because Breitbart is the nasty place that it is, I've picked up some nasty stalker types that I'm still duking it out with. Some find the banter amusing.
Beer – I like an occasional brewski, but as I get to middle age, I've had to generally cut it out due to the calories. I prefer micro brews, and imports like Belgian Ales. However I am definitely NOT on board with the hop-craze around IPAs and etc. I'm friends with a lot of guys who are into that, but I am not.

John, reply if you see fit to indulge me here, but I admit I've been wondering about the thinking here. To some degree, Breit bart tolerates trolls. What is the limit of that and why?
To me its all social discourse. The more heated, then generally, the better. I spend time here for several reasons. Maybe y'all think I just like to aggrevate – maybe there's some truth there. But I look at it like this: "The Socratic Method". If I believe some way- liberal concept a, b or c, then what better way to test my thinking then to challenge that thinking by considering what people here say about a, b, or c. If I can't defend it… then I don't adhere to it.

I don't know about you but I like the fact that roger spends so much time going through people's profiles. It gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing he wastes entire days going through mine. I don't mean to advocate groupthink. I'm not sure where my above comment implies groupthink.
I hate to turn to the over-used examples of Nazis and Je ws… (although in philosophy class I was taught to frame examples by using extremes, so…) back in 1930s Germany, there were no doubt individuals who thought individualistically. They may have not though of themselves as part of this group or that group. But then, next thing you know, they were carted off and labeled as Je wish – regardless of whether this was a personally important thing to them OR NOT.
Indeed, isn't the more common sentiment from the death camp survivors that they now more strongly believe its important for themselves to identify themselves as Je ws… as a result of the experience?!
The point is: Perhaps we do not want to think of ourselves in terms of parts of groups. However, if there are those out there that still do anyway… so then in self defense, we must!
Is that logical? Is there a flaw with that?
What do all you individualists say to the Israe lis and Je ws who think of themselves as a group?
