Disqus broke my RSS feed, so I’m giving Intense Debate a try, instead.
The good news is the RSS feed is validating properly with ID. The bad news is I’m back to having all the white space between my post and the comments. I did notice the comments are appearing directly below the level of my left sidebar, so the error has to have something to do with that. It may be a while before I fix it, or maybe I’ll just get mad and change my layout completely. I checked my markup validation as-is, and… ick. Bad.
Changed my layout. Everything validates properly, now, and Intense Debate seems tolerable. As I said in the comments, I am not emotionally invested in using ID, so if anyone has a simpler alternative, I’m all ears. It’s just that I have an extreme preference for threaded comments, and I want something that threads and works.

I got the feed OK. having to allow a third party to run javascript on my machine just to comment kinda sucks. But that was Disqus too.
At least Disqus let me read them (unthreaded) w/o Javascript.

I can't stand unthreaded comments, so using something threaded is here to stay. I'm still open to suggestions if you have a workable alternative, though. I'm really not emotionally invested in this fancy stuff; I was perfectly happy with my old plugin, until it quit working.
Glad the feed is up and running again too. I changed my layout and now everything is validating across the board. I think I'm going to quit tinkering for a while. :)
I used Disqus about 2.5 weeks ago when building my site, worked perfectly.
Now they went and changed it. I now whave a huge space between the initial component and the comments. At first I thought it was not there when I loaded it on the page. It worked PERFECTLY, why fix something that is not BROKEN.
I just happened to have a login for intense debate. I may switch.
It turned out SOMETHING about my old layout was pushing the comments to just below where my sidebar ended, if that makes sense. They were in the proper section, just at the wrong level, and SOMEHOW it was related to the sidebar.
In my case, it happened regardless of what comment system I used (standard WordPress, Disqus or Intense Debate). I was actually able to find a CSS override that worked for Disqus. I'll see if I can find it again for you, if you want to stick with Disqus?
I found the problem, I have two side bars on all my pages. I attempted to use disqus as a comment section for my suggestions page. With the sidebars, it pushed the comment section of disqus to below the sidebar's bottoms. I solved it by getting rid of the sidebars on that page. Thanks anyway. Have a good one.

I normally agree with what you say but not this time. I went to party when I was 18 many, many years ago. I pulled up in the driveway grabbed a beer out of my cooler and walked up to the house. As I got close to the house cops came out of the house. I told them I was not old enough to drink and the cop grabbed me "wall stunned" and took me to jail. I was charged with disorderly conduct, contributing, possession of marijuana. The pot was in the house, the underage kids were in the house and I was never "disorderly" , and I had never been in the house but since I was the oldest I got charged. I took it to a jury trial where the cops said I threw the pot in the house down the hallway the bag of pot then turned right and landed in the bathroom. Good thing I was lucky enough to hire a "criminal defense layer" to sort out all the lies the cops told. I was found "Not Guilty"

I agree with you that debate is good when it is civil and respectful. Like you, I enjoy a good debate. I enjoy analyzing different perspectives on various topics.
With regards to Roger, a few weeks ago, we debated some things regarding religion and it seemed to be a respectful and civil debate. But lately, he has been very argumentative with a few people on this site and tends to attack the individual rather than debate the topic.
ONF, I've noticed you've side with him in some debates, and obviously you are not a fan of Obama (while I remain one.)
But despite our differences, I can tell from your single civil comment that you "get it".
I don't pretend to be 100% consistently civil, but I aspire to it and appreciate it from others.

It is interesting because I did not vote for Obama nor would I currently vote for him, but I do believe he is a good man and a great father.
I was also very encouraged by the fact that he was a first Minority president and I felt that such would hopefully do a lot to move this country forward. I just think he was too inexperienced as an executive and as a politician to be President. I just think he is in WAY over his head and he should have waited another 10 or so years until he made his move to be President.
Well… I can see how one could see things that way.
America has certainly not had the experience that I expected when voting for him. But… even he didn't expect to take office with the conditions that wound up being the case.

And he is NOT deserving the Nobel PEACE prize, since he's quite emulative of Bush's foriegn policies, as far as I'm concerned!

I normally agree with what you say but not this time. I went to party when I was 18 many, many years ago. I pulled up in the driveway grabbed a beer out of my cooler and walked up to the house. As I got close to the house cops came out of the house. I told them I was not old enough to drink and the cop grabbed me "wall stunned" and took me to jail. I was charged with disorderly conduct, contributing, possession of marijuana. The pot was in the house, the underage kids were in the house and I was never "disorderly" , and I had never been in the house but since I was the oldest I got charged. I took it to a jury trial where the cops said I threw the pot in the house down the hallway the bag of pot then turned right and landed in the bathroom. Good thing I was lucky enough to hire a "criminal defense layer" to sort out all the lies the cops told. I was found "Not Guilty"
