Controversy!

Best Metallica song. Discuss.

You can pick a best original and best cover, if you want.

I say the best cover is ‘Whiskey in the Jar’. (The Inconvenience is definitely going to say ‘Turn the Page’.) I haven’t decided on a best original, though I’m leaning toward ‘Enter Sandman’.

Why do I have a feeling my feckin’ Irish friend is going to have an opinion on this one?

Politics, Guns & Beer.

Best cover – Breadfan. By far. Nothing compares to that ‘un.

As for the best original, it’s got to be from Kill ‘Em All. Just don’t know which one yet.

I know I am taking a step away from my claims in our conversation earlier, but best cover, I’m going to go ahead and say Astronomy. As far as best original song, has to be Master of Puppets

Best cover: So What. What can I say? I’m a sucker for excessive obscenity, profanity, and vulgarity.

Best original: Creeping Death.

Best cover?

The Ecstasy of Gold. S&W version or various of Metallica by themselves? Hard to say. Lots to say for the S&W version.

Hmmm…

Don’t Tread on Me is up there for a favorite Metallica song.

Correction…

S&M not S&W…

Habit.

I prefer to live under the delusion that Metallica didn’t release anything until after “…And Justice For All” (ok, maybe I’ll allow the black album) and just broke up at that point. And then reunited for Death Magnetic.

As a result, this thread makes almost no sense to me. I’m with Grumple on Master of Puppets though.

Cover? Sorry Laurel, gotta go with the inconvenience on this one. [can you ever forgive me?]

Original? I loooove Ronnie off the Load album. Better than You off of Reload, and of course, agreeing with the Grump…Master of Puppets. 3way tie basically between em.

hrm, whiskey would run pretty close as the cover (and i am in no way biased of course), altho Last Caress wins it (the version without the gazebo on its arse that is green hell).

original…..this gets tricky.

any one from Battery (for the violence of it…..ehrm, i meant musically; i in no way condone wandering around knocking the shite outta folk), One (epic), or Hero of the Day.

can i cop out with the Justice medley from Live Shit?

honourable mentions……stupid yankee D automatic red lines….theres a U in that word dammit. eh, digressed I did. Unnamed Feeling, Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, Lowman’s Lyric are all legend.

hrm, ’s nice for ye to bring up a debate on here that i have a near-relevant opinion on.

’spose 2moro it’ll be back to guns/gun control or the desired lack thereof/shooting/politicsofalowerlevelthanthepresidentwhichnaturallygetssodallcoverageoverhere.

still, it’ll be nice while it lasts.

Best original- The Thing That Should Not Be

Had to think about it for a moment, but here are my picks:

Best original: “Creeping Death,” with “Master of Puppets” and “Damage, Inc.” hot on its heels
Best cover: “Blitzkrieg”

The irony of the above choices: I got turned on to Metallica by the Black Album…

“Enter “sandman” = Metallica fan fail. Not even the best song on that album.

Best Cover – “Am I Evil?”

Best original- Tie between “The Frayed Ends ofr Sanity” and “For whom the Bell Tolls”

oh, and maybe “Damage, Inc”

Best cover = Stone Cold Crazy

Hell, anything off Garage Days really.

Best original = Battery

Maybe not best best, but I’ve been partial to it every since my high school drum line made it our unofficial theme. Seek and Destroy makes a solid run for the title though.
