I’ve traded my tinfoil hat for an iPhone.

Today, I had to drive to Lewiston to pick up a set of truck tires. As the title of this post suggests, I have thrown my concerns about cell phone triangulation and GPS stalking to the wind, and embraced the dark side. (I say this only partially tongue-in-cheek… But I figure if “they” want me bad enough, they’ll find me.)

It was with great glee I watched that little blue dot track my progress in the map app, with startling accuracy. And when it guided me directly to my destination with nary a glitch? Love. True love.

I then used my iPhone to find the cheapest diesel in town (Safari + GasBuddy.com – there’s an app, but I’m cheap), and to track the calories in the frappucino I bought. (Lose It! app – and oh em gee did you know a venti caramel frap with whipped cream is like 540 freaking calories!?!?!)

I’m an addict. In my defense, I have wanted one of these bad boys since before they even existed, so. My life is pretty much complete.

IPhone users: What apps do you reccomend?

Politics, Guns & Beer.

If you’re worried about being tracked, turn the phone off. Problem solved. (And in any case, yes, if “they” are out to get you, you’re already gotten, unless you’re in a shack in the woods like Ted Kaczynski.)

What apps, depends on what you want to do

Some phones are still trackable when off; the battery actually has to be removed to render them dead.

The iPhone doesn’t have a removable battery, so…

And as for what I want to do, I’m really open to just about anything. There have been things suggested (like a barcode scanner/price-looker-upper) that I never would have thought of, but have already found useful, so I’m just looking for faves across the board!

Now, now. Just because you’ve abandoned frugality to buy an iPhone doesn’t mean you have to go over the top and start buying frappucinos!

Don’t bother too much with games, they get old in like 2 weeks and you stop playing them. If you do want to bother with games, play Flight Control.

I am a little concerned you’re the only one to mention a ballistic calculator so far. ;)

I lied – RickR beat you to it with iSnipe, I missed that. :)

I actually meant to ask, specifically, which one was best – I’ll check out FTE.

Good list, these all sound like things I should get! :)

Ballistic FTE is pretty sweet. I can plug my reload info into it. It’s nice. Honestly, it has a little more stuff than I need for my usual shoot. I did some research, and from the comments/reviews, I settled on ballistics FTE as being able to do more than iSnipe. There are also other cheaper versions of Ballistics, I just got the Field Tactical Edition.
