I too will not speculate. But…here is what I would do if I were in her situation:

In order to get my family out of debt I would take speaking engagements, write a bombshell of a book, go hunting with the press and any other friendly activities that they would allow (if she could find friendly press), visit several states just as a “tourist” with family of course. And keep my eye out for other opportunities to make money (in a good way, no commercials selling stuff, heh..) Be open and honest about various politicians, both on the left and right, and while enjoying a more laid back lifestyle, do a lot of reading and studying on not only the U.S., the world and world events, but economics and such.

She and her family also need to spend time repairing the damage that the media has done to them. She needs to verify and reaffirm her and her family’s priorities.

I know in my life the priorities are:

God
Personal honor
Family
State
Country

I’m pretty sure those are Palin’s also.

Or more realistically she can travel the country, spend the next few months earning speaker’s fees, and make something off of her book deal while her 15 minutes of fame slowly runs out. Then she can hole up in Wasilla and let the world forget about her.

Word is the Ethics committee was getting bankrupted by various “complaints’ from people. There is no concrete evidence for an investigation, just that complaint.

Tally is rumored at $500,000; $1,500,000 at her term. Plus since she won’t be bound back, she can unearth that belligerent old fart of a vet for the scumbag he is, call out Obama, and raise funds with no political tape.

An ailing McCain campaign threw a hail mary and picked a seemingly good candidate out of nowhere in Palin, and Palin’s been soaking in the publicity from that for far too long. Of course, she’s always been Dan Quayle with lipstick and less experience, and I didn’t expect her to get anywhere except, possibly, draw enough of the fringe vote in the primary to be worth talking about (like Huckabee or Pat Buchanan).

Now that her sideshow has ended, perhaps the Republicans will get to the business of making themselves into a credible opposition capable of fielding serious candidates. Her exit from the political scene (which this is, one way or the other) is only a good move toward that end.
