The “Change” We Better Prepare For
Comrades,
In case this wasn’t already obvious (i.e. you were living under a rock): PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA IS A BIG GODDAMN PROBLEM.
From change.gov, which outlines Obama’s transition plans (hat tip to Uncle):
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
You know, I don’t think everyone who voted for Obama wants this stuff. I mean hell – I know a guy who voted for Obama because he thinks Barry Jesus is the solution to our economic woes, and he went and bought himself a complete Stag today because he realizes he’s about to lose the ability to. (Don’t worry, I already told him he’s seven different kinds of stupid.) But, point being: I don’t think these people understand that yes, they honest-to-Pete just voluntarily voted to trade our liberties for WARM FUZZY HOPE.
Hey, at least you really can’t accuse me of unfoundedly predicting impending doom at this point, considering the arrogant bastard is openly flaunting his intention to wage war on my rights.
Fine. If Obama wants to see our rifles on a battlefield, we’ll give him a battlefield. Μολὼν λαβέ.
*waits for the Brownshirts Black-Baggers Truth Squads to come haul her away*

hmm … sounds like it might be the right time to go out and get that FN FAL I’ve been wanting.
They aren’t getting cheaper, more plentiful, or less threatened. The time was actually 6 months ago… but I think we all have a thing or ten we can say that about.
Point being: Yes, it is. Do it. Now.
Just to add, i bought 1200 more 5.56 rounds online a couple weeks ago and the wait time for processing was 2-3 days, i just looked now and it’s 10-14, what’s that tell you. I’d like to get a couple thousand more but time may not be on my side.
Haven’t you noticed that more than half of all campaign promises go unimplemented?
Wow, Phil, that makes me feel better.
I know his campaign promises included rounding up all Muslims and putting them in internment camps… but don’t worry, half of all campaign promises go unimplemented!
If Romney got elected that’s exactly what I would be telling myself right now.
Sometimes you have to lie to the base to get their support, which is why Bush had “move the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem” buried somewhere inside his 2000 campaign platform, and yet here in 2008 the embassy is still in Tel-Aviv.
Campaign platforms are full of lies, unfulfillable wishes, and insincere attempts to pander to whatever collection of fringe interests the party coalition is based upon. The Democrats fought this fight in the 90’s and lost. If they’re dumb enough to try again they’ll see another Republican Congress in 2010 and we’ll live the 90’s over again.
Multiple negatives are the Politician’s trick – promising not to do something and then doing it is another.
Promising to “reach across the aisle” and then not doing it is to be expected also.
From Countertop in DC we fiund-out that Obama’s moving pretty fast already on a putsch to oust Dingell because of his ability to kill gun control bills, and replace him with even more stridently partisan Waxman as Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
If Waxman succeeds, the overreach is on.
Waxman is the ultimate left wing pinko lunatic liberal. He’d repel the Democrats union base and the strength of Obama’s wins in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, etc.
# If Waxman wins, expect serious heavy handed climate change legislation.
# If Waxman wins, expect the Consumer Products Safety Commission to have jurisdiction over firearms. If Waxman wins, expect a gun show ban.
# If Waxman wins, expect a gun control orgy.
Obama has named Waxman’s former chief-of-staff Phil Schiliro as Director of Congressional Relations – which means Dingell has a target on his back. That sets the stage for Pelosi to atack Dingall as never before. She has long clashed with him and ran Lynn Rivers against him in a primary in an attempt to defeat him. The Lynne Rivers campaign was all about gun control. For it to rear its head in this fashion, so soon after the election, doesn’t bode well for anyone.
This says to me that #1 he’s got plays scripted to run from scrimmage already, and #2 he has a few *things* that he needs to have taken care of already – like neutralizing an unreliable Aparatchick…
Like the Soviets of old they already air-brushed out some of the controversial wording at change.gov – like the “require community service” was changed to “goal for community service.”
The MOST optimistic view I have of Obama is that he could be the next Grover Cleveland. If he MUST behave like a Democrat, let it be Grover Cleveland! That man followed the Constitution far more than many other Presidents combined.
But am I holding my breath on it? No. While it appears that practicality may prevent Obama from fulfilling his (socialist/communist) campaign promises, the mere fact that a Democrat will be the next POTUS seems to be enabling the dreadful agendas of Pelosi, Reid and other politicians that have no respect for our rights affirmed in the Constitution.
